This project’s task was to design a new mixed-use building for VIANEX, the leading Pharmaceutical Industry in Greece, situated in an industrial park and bordered by the main  national highway, on site area totalling 12,226 sqm. Anchored in the geometry of the existing environment, the new building has the vocation to extend the use of the two existing buildings of the Company.

The new building consists of two major functional entities both composed in a simple square compact volume of a pre engineered shell steel structure. The program  includes a double height ground floor and basement that facilitates a large warehouse for the medicines, 4,000 sqm in total. The company’s offices are at the first floor, covering a surface of 2000 sqm. The organization concept for the working space (administration, offices and logistics area) is a series of ‘capsule’ units that penetrate the façade between the constructional frame.

Materials for the facade are chosen to emphasise the building’s different uses. The south and west warehouse facade is clad in perforated and seamed aluminum sheets emphasizing the honey-comb cells concept. A yellow film has been applied underneath the perforated aluminium, giving a faint impression of color. The same yellow color is repeated within the first floor’s “working capsules”. The rest of the building façades is clad in light grey reflective 100 mm thickness alouminioum and mineral wool panels.
